One of the most challenging things about raising gifted children (as if it’s not hard enough) is when that child has a neurotypical peer. Sibling relationships can be one of the more protective factors for children developing appropriately socially, emotionally, and physically, so it is a variable that needs to be treated with care and intention. This presentation will focus on how to manage the relationships between gifted and non-gifted siblings with emphasis on communication, navigating asynchronous development across peers, and setting internal expectations. This presentation will offer concrete, usable strategies for parents to use to help their children feel safe, seen, and supported.
